Day four is spent on the outskirts of Hongkong, at one of their famous fishing village, Tai O. We took a train to Tung Chung after our brunch at One Dimsum and there was an outlet mall right beside the station. There were many stores there that we almost wanted to forgo going Tai O and just spending our entire day there. I am glad the partner insist on heading over to Tai O and we reached there around 5.30pm, when the sun is almost setting. It felt like another world when we reached Tai O.

Before the trip, I have done a bit of research about Tai O and most visitors will be there in the afternoon and somehow from the photos, the place doesn’t feel too amazing. Being there during sunset really made the whole place feels more like the Hong Kong that we always wanted to experience. But of course, we were there rather late that other than catching the sunset and a little peek at the market area, there wasn’t much to see as the stalls were closing. I will recommend you to reach at about 2/3pm if you want to explore or shop for dried goods around the area.

After Tai O, we headed back to Mongkok area for dinner as I was craving for the pig’s blood porridge from Sea View Porridge again. The next day, we went around for some last minute shopping and food marathon to try out various recommended food before our flight back, mainly around the central area. Kam Wah’s bo luo bun, Mak’s Noodle’s wanton mee & Tai Cheong’s egg tart. We wanted to try Lan Fong Yuen’s milk tea and Kau Kee’s beef brisket but they were too crowded and the queue was long. If food is your thing, we recommend to spend a day or two in central Hongkong as there’s a lot to explore. That’s all of our Hongkong trip and we’ll be travelling to Taiwan at the end of the month, keep watching this space for more travel diaries!
